Ricky Stuart has made an enormous statement regarding Hudson Young’s future.
Young has been heavily linked with a move to PNG Chiefs for 2028, with the star exploring their facilities and seriously considering an offer.
But the Raiders want to keep the second-rower on their books from 2028 onwards, if a deal can be secured. They offered the second-rower a club-record salary of $1.1 million a season to see him remain in lime green, but a deal could not be struck.
Canberra are growing frustrated with Young’s situation, and want a resolution to come sooner rather than later, so the Raiders know where they stand for the future.
Head coach Ricky Stuart has made a major statement on Young, saying his time at Canberra could come to an end earlier than expected.
On an earlier release, Stuart said: “That question’s not for me. That’s for his [Hudson Young’s] management.
“That’s up to Hudson and his management to ask for that, but I’d definitely look at it.”
While a move to the Chiefs is not 100% confirmed, a transfer is edging closer, as the NRL hold firm on their $1 million valuation of the star.
The Raiders have been strongly linked with Panthers star Liam Martin if Young does depart, with the Penrith forward very interested in a move to the Capital if he does not get offered a new deal with his current club.
