Brisbane Broncos have been handed a huge boost ahead of the 2027 NRL season.

The Broncos suffered an array of injuries throughout the 2026 campaign, with one in particular raising serious concerns.

Brendan Piakura sustained a concussion for the fifth time in three seasons, and serious doubts emerged about his future in the game.

Now, there has been a huge update on his future, something which has provided a boost for the Broncos.

The Courier Mail has revealed that Piakura has been given the ‘green light’ to resume his playing career.

Piakura’s agent, Allan Gainey, confirmed that Piakura has been given medical clearance to return.

“Brendan went down to Melbourne to do some assessments, and they did some specialist scanning of his brain,” said Gainey.

“The Broncos sent Brendan to a specialist as a sort of precaution, and he did some additional testing.

“The good news is it’s all systems go (for Piakura to play again).”

Gainey added: “Brendan got three head knocks in a short space of time, so he has to be careful. But he’s had a good break and is looking nice and fit.”
