Transfer season is ramping up as November 1 approaches.
PNG Chiefs, Wests Tigers and Sydney Roosters have all received updates regarding different situations at the clubs.
PNG transfer blow
PNG Chiefs have been linked with plenty of stars over recent months, and are set to be very active from November 1 onwards.
Canberra Raiders are set to keep Hudson Young, who has been heavily linked with a move to PNG.
According to Code Sports, Canberra have offered Young a deal worth $1.1 million across three seasons.
The club is also willing to add another year onto the offer to keep him in the Capital.
The Chiefs made an offer of $900,000 a season to the second rower, but the NRL won’t allow the deal to happen, due to the offer being below his market value.
Wests Tigers eye signing
Benji Marshall’s side are looking to complete their fifth signing before the 2027 season in the coming weeks.
CODE Sports report Newcastle Knights’ James Schiller has been linked with the club.
Schiller has a deal valid until the end of 2027, but has been allowed to leave the club if he finds a new deal elsewhere.
The 25-year-old played 17 games in 2025, but his minutes were slashed massively in 2026, playing just one game.
With him being out of favour, it has prompted the Tigers to explore a deal for him.
Sam Walker’s Roosters update
Sam Walker is expected to stay at Sydney Roosters, with a new deal set to be agreed in the coming weeks.
The Englishman is in line to become the richest player in the Roosters’ history, per Fox Sports, following his outstanding 2026 campaign.
Reports last week circulated that Walker would extend his contract if a deal worth $1.5 million was agreed, and it seems that is the case.
