Brisbane Broncos ended their 2026 season in style, winning 34-20 against Canterbury Bulldogs.

The Broncos will be happy with the way they have ended their campaign, which as a whole, was hugely disappointing.

After the victory, Ben Hunt spoke on the fixture and about standout stars, with the 2026 campaign coming to a close.

“I thought Billy was one of our best tonight,” Hunt said. “I think he stood up and offered a lot of our attacking boys the ball.”

Walters’ performances since returning from his ACL injury will help bring confidence to the Broncos for the 2027 season.

Along with Walters, Hunt also praised one departing star. He spoke about Payne Haas, who scored the first try in the evening’s match.

“Anywhere close to the line, the big man’s going to score. There’s a number of guys moving on this year, but no one’s as special as Payne. He’s given his heart and soul to this club.”

Finally, Hunt added: “It’s been a disappointing year, but to come out and win it for him [Haas], it means a lot.”

This time next year, Ben Hunt could have played his final match for the Broncos.

His contract with the 2025 Premiers comes to an end following next year’s campaign, with him and the team hoping to break back into the top eight and reach the Finals.
