What Madge just said on Broncos future

The 2026 Brisbane Broncos campaign has come to an end, with many across the club happy to see the back of it.

Head coach Michael Maguire has come under huge scrutiny this year, following on from the 2025 NRL Premiership win.

A tough period has been ended on a high, following a strong 34-20 victory over Canterbury Bulldogs.

After the win, Madge said: “To watch the group have a smile on their face after what they’ve been through, it’s nice to see.

“They’re human, we’re human. You go through a lot when you’re going through those [tough] times in your career.”

He added: “The players have tried to play like that every week, and I can’t fault them for that. Sometimes you’ve just got to find ways and figure out how to get that performance.”

Maguire’s future is up in the air, with many fans wanting him to leave after a turbulent 2026. But he has not indicated that he will depart during the off-season, and he spoke about his future and the club’s.

“I’m actually really looking forward to what’s in front, with what we’ve been through,” Maguire added.

“We’ll get together as a team, playing group and staff, and then we’ll go through things that we want to plan for, for what is ahead.”

The players and staff will have a period of downtime before they return to pre-season, looking to bounce back from a campaign they will remember for all the wrong reasons.
