Eels and Knights reveal major new deals

Newcastle Knights and Parramatta Eels have both confirmed player extensions ahead of the final regular season round.

The Knights will be hoping to be crowned premiers for the first time in 25 years.

Last year they won the wooden spoon, but 12 months on, they will be hoping to win the competition.

Ahead of the NRL Finals, the club have confirmed that one of their ever-present players this year has penned a new four-year contract.

Dominic Young is the player in question, with the winger securing his future with the Knights until 2030.

The Knights’ head coach Justin Holbrook said: “We are excited Dom has chosen to continue his career at the Knights.

It has been a different year for the Eels in comparison to the Knights.

The club sit 13th on the ladder, ahead of their final match of the year against the Dragons.

The campaign has been a disappointing one for the Eels, who will see seven players depart after the weekend.

Steven Nunn and Liam Martin are the players in question, who will extend their stay with the side.

Code Sports has reported that prop Nunn has penned a new contract with an additional year, keeping him at Parramatta until the end of the 2029 campaign.

Martin has signed a new two-year deal with the Eels, extending his contract until the end of the 2028 campaign.

The moves see the Eels focus on their homegrown talents, with a vision of the duo frequently picking up first-grade minutes in the coming seasons.
