Dragons confirm new departure

St George Illawarra Dragons have confirmed the departure of one player, as the club continues their major roster overhaul.

The latest player to have his departure from the Dragons confirmed is Hame Sele.

The forward has not featured since round seven earlier this year, with his first-grade minutes being hard to come by.

With just 167 minutes played across six matches, Sele will be hoping to play more regular footy in his next challenge.

The 29-year-old has played the last 10 years of his career in the NRL, making 94 first-grade appearances, but his next chapter seems to be in the Super League.

The Daily Telegraph reported that Castleford Tigers is his next club, with Sele penning a three-year contract with the side.

The NRL side then confirmed Sele will leave the team.

The forward’s departure frees up more salary cap space for the Dragons to spend, as they look to avoid being next year’s wooden spooners.

Dean Young’s side will see plenty of changes to their roster ahead of the 2027 campaign, with six players set to join and nine departures confirmed so far.

Sele is one of four players set to swap the Dragons for Super League side Castleford Tigers.

The English outfit currently sit 10th on the ladder in the Super League, out of 14 sides.

Their overhaul of Dragons players for 2027 will hopefully help them climb up the ladder.
