Warriors to sign NRL star in shock move

New Zealand Warriors have had another strong season and their hopes of lifting their first ever premiership this year are well and truly alive.

While the Wahs have been impressing on the field, they are also looking to build for the future off it.

Off-contract stars throughout the NRL will soon be eligible to speak to rival clubs about contracts for the 2028 season.

One of those players is Canberra Raiders‘ centre Sebastian Kris, with reports on News Corp today revealing he is set to be released from the final year of his deal.

The versatile 27-year-old, who has fallen down the pecking order in Ricky Stuart’s side, is now set to part ways at the end of this season.

That’s because the Warriors have a strong interest in the one-time New Zealand international, who is set to jump at the opportunity to move to Auckland.

The Wahs already have good depth in the centre position, with the likes of Adam Pompey, Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad, Ali Leiataua and Leka Halasima all battling it out for minutes at the moment.

Although Kris was born in Brisbane, his New Zealand heritage has seen him represent the Kiwis at international level. The 27-year-old has 129 NRL appearances to his name.

Rocco Berry is expected to leave the Warriors at the end of the season, with reports claiming the off-contract centre will join the Melbourne Storm.

The Wahs have wasted no time finding a replacement for Berry, with Kris to add more depth to Andrew Webster’s fearsome looking squad for the 2027 campaign.
