Wests Tigers and the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs have been tipped to make a shock transfer move.
The Tigers have endured a rough 2026 campaign, which started brightly but fell apart. Injuries played their part as Wests finished 15th on the NRL ladder, winning just 8 of their 24 games.
Jarome Luai is leaving the club after he signed with PNG Chiefs for 2028, with the five-eighth also heading to Parramatta Eels for the 2027 campaign.
There has also been controversy surrounding halfback Adam Doueihi, who refused to play at one point before returning to the side.
Meanwhile, the Bulldogs showed glimpses of real quality during the 2026 regular season, beating both the Penrith Panthers and the New Zealand Warriors. But consistency was a problem, as was their halves situation.
Now, a wild update links both Wests and the Bulldogs with a move for Luke Brooks.
Brooks was in fine form for the Manly Sea Eagles earlier this year before he suffered a season-ending blow.
Given the competition at Manly, Brooks has now been linked with an exit, and one journalist has tipped Wests and the Bulldogs to be in for the 31-year-old.
“He is (being shopped to rivals),” Danny Weidler explained on Triple M. “There are conversations all the time that go on between coaches, managers of players and general managers. His name has been brought up in these discussions.
“I don’t know whether ‘shopped’ is the right word, but he’s been brought up as a prospective recruit for clubs. It makes sense at Manly. They have got pretty good depth in the halves.
“There are a lot of clubs looking for a half. You’d imagine Brooks would be offered a couple of years; he’s only got a year at Manly.
“They (Wests) probably do need a half. They have got Doueihi. Who always gets talked about in terms of needing halves? Tigers and the Bulldogs.”
