NRL clubs are now preparing for next season after the climax of the 2026 campaign.

The Sydney Roosters lifted the NRL Premiership on Sunday after edging out the Newcastle Knights in the Grand Final.

Brisbane Broncos, New Zealand Warriors and Melbourne Storm are among the sides looking to improve ahead of 2027 for differing reasons.

The Broncos fell from Premiers to 14th, the Storm dropped from Grand Final losers to 10th, and the Warriors finished second on the ladder but disappointingly lost back-to-back Finals games.

A new transfer update now involves all three teams.

It has been reported that Adam Pompey’s capture by the Storm means they will no longer pursue Rocco Berry, formerly of the Warriors.

The Broncos targeted Berry earlier in the season, but felt the Storm would win the race for his signature.

But Melbourne changed their mind on Berry, who is set to be released by the Warriors.

Journalist Zane Bojack explained: “The @storm had been chatting to Wasserman Rugby management group on possible signing of Rocco Berry earlier in the year but pivoted to Adam Pompey.”

Berry, 25, has suffered plenty of injuries during his career, and it’s understood that’s what made the Storm change their mind. It remains to be seen whether the Broncos will go back in for the outside back this offseason.
