The Brisbane Broncos have secured one of the NRL’s most respected recruitment bosses as they look to rebuild after a disappointing season.

Newcastle Knights recruitment chief Peter O’Sullivan has agreed to join Brisbane from 2027 after attracting interest from Parramatta.

According to The Courier-Mail, O’Sullivan agreed to terms on Friday on a five-year deal after knocking back the Eels.

The recruitment battle involved an offer worth $2.5 million, or $500,000 a season.

O’Sullivan is currently contracted to Newcastle until the end of 2029, where he reportedly earns around $350,000 a season.

However, the Knights are understood to be willing to release him and have reportedly decided against entering a bidding war to keep him.

The experienced recruitment boss had confirmed he was considering his future before reportedly choosing Brisbane.

“It’s flattering to have interest from a club like the Broncos. They are a massive club and I’m very honoured to be offered to be a part of the Broncos,” O’Sullivan told The Courier-Mail before making his decision.

Brisbane are looking to make changes behind the scenes after a disastrous 2026 campaign.

The Broncos finished 14th, just one year after winning the premiership, prompting a review of their football operations.

Long-serving recruitment boss Simon Scanlan has moved into a role overseeing pathways and strategic football projects, opening the door for a new appointment.

O’Sullivan will reportedly take charge of recruitment and list management for Brisbane’s top 30 squad, helping shape the club’s future under coach Michael Maguire.

He has built an impressive reputation over 25 years in rugby league.

O’Sullivan helped assemble the Dolphins’ inaugural squad, bringing players such as Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow, Herbie Farnworth and Isaiya Katoa to the club.

He also played a major role in Newcastle’s recruitment, including the huge deal that brought Dylan Brown from Parramatta.

Earlier in his career, he helped identify stars including Greg Inglis and Latrell Mitchell.

The move will also reunite him with Reece Walsh, whom he helped lure from Brisbane to the Warriors in 2021.

Parramatta had also been keen to strengthen their recruitment department, but Brisbane have reportedly won the battle for his services.

His arrival gives the Broncos a major off-field addition as they prepare for the 2027 season.
