New Zealand Warriors went down 26-24 in a Saturday night classic at Suncorp Stadium. Despite the defeat, it was a huge effort by the injury-hit Wahs, who looked like they had won the game late on.
No matter how hard the Dolphins tried, they could not shrug off the Warriors all game and with just four minutes left, Sam Healey’s try put Andrew Webster’s side ahead.
However, the Dolphins won the ball back from the kick-off and Selwyn Cobbo powered over with just one minute to go. That made the score 24-all and Jamayne Isaako’s touchline conversion won it for the hosts.
It’s a game the Warriors will look back on and think they could have won, but there was understandably huge appreciation for their performance given the club’s current injury crisis.

This was evident during Herbie Farnworth’s post-match interview, with the superstar centre full of admiration for the Wahs after coming within minutes of a famous win in Brisbane.
“We always love playing the Warriors, they are a great outfit. They have been in great form this year and their fanbase is very passionate and loud.
“Every time we play the Warriors we love it, and who knows, maybe we will meet them again in the finals, because they are a great side full of great players.
“It was a tough game and even though we weren’t at our best, we are happy to get the win.
“There was pressure on Jamayne (Isaako) to land that kick, but we know how good he is so I wasn’t surprised to see him nail it there at the end.
“Hopefully we can continue to build on this now and keep winning. We’re glad to get the two points today because the Warriors are never an easy team to play against.”
