Patrick Carrigan has opened up about his return from injury, and Brisbane Broncos fans will find his words interesting.
Carrigan suffered an ankle injury earlier in the season and was expected to return in round 20.
However, Carrigan has recovered quicker than initially thought, but rather than return for Brisbane, he will make his comeback in State of Origin Game 3.
It’s a frustrating one for Broncos fans given their season is on the line against the Cronulla Sharks in round 18, but Origin comes first at this time of year.
There have been questions about whether Billy Slater’s decision to include the lock forward is a ‘risk’, something Slater acknowledged is the case.
Patrick Carrigan gives injury update

Brisbane Broncos star forward Patrick Carrigan.
But Carrigan insists he is ready to go and committed to the Queensland cause.
“I’m fully confident,” Carrigan said. “I’ll just keep chipping away over the next 10 days or so, but I’m fully confident I can do my job and pull on the jersey for Queensland.
“One hundred per cent (he can play the full 80 minutes). Obviously there’ll be question marks because I haven’t played for a couple of weeks, but I’m lucky to have a great staff at the Broncos, and I’ve left no stone unturned.
“If Queensland needs me to play 80 minutes, that’s what I’ll do. I’m ready to go. It was my goal to get back for this game.”
Brisbane Broncos doctors give green light
Broncos head coach Michael Maguire, meanwhile, insists Carrigan has been given the green light by the Brisbane doctors.
“Our doctors have been in discussions with the Queensland team,” he said.
“If he wasn’t picked by them, we would have picked him for our game against the Sharks.
“He still had a few hoops to jump through, but there are no concerns – Patty is good to go.”
