New Zealand Warriors are set for a busy few months recruitment wise, as they shape their roster for the 2027 season.

The Wahs currently have Rocco Berry, Kurt Capewell and Te Maire Martin off contract, three players they will undoubtedly want to keep.

Grant Anderson and Will Warbrick are the club’s two gains from next season at present, with Mitch Barnett, Roger Tuivasa-Sheck and Luke Metcalf among those leaving.

And now the club have confirmed the departure of another player at the end of the season after failing to earn a regular starting spot at the Kiwi club.

Halfback Luke Hanson, who has only played once for the Warriors, has signed for the Gold Coast Titans.

The 22-year-old has signed a two-year deal with the Queensland club, bringing an end to his time in New Zealand having come through the pathways system at the Wahs.

Hanson impressed during his only NRL appearance to date, starting at stand-off and scoring a try in the Warriors’ Round 3 victory over the Knights in Newcastle.

The Sydney-born playmaker also has 45 appearances to his name at New South Wales Cup level, but the competition in the halves at NRL level for the Warriors has proven too fierce.

“We’ve enjoyed having Luke with us for the past three seasons and watching his growth from the under-21 level to earn his first-grade debut this year,” said Warriors general manager Andrew McFadden.

“He has an opportunity back in Australia and we wish him all the best for the future. We really appreciate his efforts and contribution to the club.”
