It’s not often a side gets praised in defeat, but the New Zealand Warriors have been credited by most pundits and journalists for their performance against the Dolphins.
Going down 26-24 at Suncorp Stadium, the Wahs were missing six key starters but went within minutes of a famous win in Brisbane.
Selwyn Cobbo’s late try broke Warriors hearts in this game of the season contender, with the home side moving level on points with the Kiwi club.
Looking at the Wahs players who were missing, Tanah Boyd, James Fisher-Harris and Leka Halasima just to name a few, it was a monumental effort by Andrew Webster’s side.
In truth, they probably should have not been able to run their red-hot opponents so close, with the Dolphins claiming their eighth consecutive NRL victory.

Many in the media praised the Warriors efforts on the weekend, and Kangaroos coach Kevvie Walters has made a strong prediction over the remainder of the season for the Auckland outfit.
Speaking on his Inside Ball podcast, rugby league legend Walters believes the two sides are destined to meet again this season after playing out two ‘belting games’ this year.
“I was impressed with both teams,” said Walters. “I’m expecting both teams to have a good run into the finals. Both teams will make the top four.
“The challenge for them is that come the finals, we want to see them come in strong against the likes of the Panthers and the Roosters.
“For the Dolphins that is the challenge to do it when it counts against the Panthers, the Roosters and against the Warriors again.
“Watching that game, you do get the feeling the Dolphins and Warriors will cross each other’s paths again this season. They have played out some belting games.”
