Newcastle Knights have made a huge Bradman Best contract decision amid links with Parramatta Eels.

Best is off contract at the end of the 2027 season, and looks set to speak to rival clubs, including the Eels, on November 1.

The 25-year-old was a crucial player in the Knights’ run to the Grand Final this year, with Justin Holbrook’s men falling short against the Sydney Roosters.

Best also starred for New South Wales in State of Origin and is currently with the Australian squad at the 2026 Rugby League World Cup.

But in the background, the star centre is also weighing up his club footy future.

The Knights have tabled a new offer to the star, worth $850,000 a season, with ratchet clauses that can take the salary within touching distance of $1 million.

The Eels are heavily linked with Best, with reports stating they are willing to make him the highest-paid centre in the league.

The Knights’ offer spans four years and is worth around $4 million. Despite the large offer, Best is playing his cards close to his chest.

His selection for the Kangaroos at the World Cup hasn’t helped his situation either, with his focus heavily on the competition.

With Parramatta ready to make a significant offer, Best could hold out until November 1 to see whether Newcastle improves their bid.

If not, the Eels will naturally boost their pursuit of the target by offering a higher salary.
