New Zealand Warriors have suffered a major blow ahead of November 1.

Joseph Manu is close to returning to the NRL midway through the 2027 campaign, before joining PNG Chiefs in 2028.

Manu departed the Sydney Roosters at the end of the 2024 season, completing a move to Japanese outfit Toyota Verblitz.

The 30-year-old later joined Racing 92 in France, where he will remain until halfway through 2027.

According to The Mole, the Roosters are expected to begin their formal process of signing Manu in the coming weeks.

Manu will link up with the Chiefs ahead of the 2028 season, after penning a two-year contract with the club.

But the star is set to land a deal for the second half of 2027 with his former club.

The Warriors have been dealt a blow with the comp winners set to sign Manu, who turned down a move to Auckland midway through the 2026 season.

The Wahs had the chance to sign the Kiwis star for next year, but have been beaten out by the Roosters.
