Brisbane Broncos fans have given their verdict on the future of Michael Maguire after the club’s demise in 2026.
The Broncos have fallen apart this season, with seven straight NRL losses, which seems to have them well and truly out of the top eight mix.
Brisbane won the NRL Premiership last year in style, but have lost 10 of 15 matches so far in 2025.
Maguire insists his side can turn it around in time, even though pundits aplenty, including Cooper Cronk and Andrew Johns, feel their chances are over.
“I wouldn’t say it’s an uphill battle with the team I’ve got here,” Maguire explained after the 24-18 home defeat to the Sydney Roosters.
“People can say whatever they like, to be honest. The belief I’ve got with this team and the journey I’ve had with this group. If you fight like that, we’ll let that do the talking.”
Maguire’s future has been a topic of conversation among pundits of late, with some even suggesting the Broncos might be best served to part ways.
Brisbane Broncos fans give Michael Maguire verdicts

Brisbane Broncos’ Michael Maguire.
Posed the question on our socials, Broncos fans had this to say in response to whether the club should let go of Maguire or retain the two-time NRL Premiership winner.
Geoff Bryant: No….. Just a few players need to be made to earn their income.
Ishan Hettige: If the Broncos played like the way they played against the Roosters 🐓 in their previous games, they would’ve been in the top four.
Christian Hancock: No, they’re too quick to sack coaches these days. He’s a good coach and is doing his best with the Injuries his team has sustained in the last 6 to 12 months. You can’t blame that on the coach.
Mark Martin: No, but it’s a good lesson to learn all good coaches can coach to the best of their ability it comes down to the players to deliver and sometimes trix never go to plan I’m a 💯% Broncos supporter 7 in a row losses don’t look good but don’t give up keep going for your coach your team and yourself ♥️ let’s go Broncos.
Michael White: He won a premiership; at the very least, he deserves another season. I don’t like him. I think he wins comps with teams built by his predecessor. But he does win. Sacking a coach because one season goes wrong is a knee-jerk reaction. It was probably wrong to fire Walters, and it would probably be wrong to fire Maguire. I don’t like him. I think he might be part of the problem, but I still think he deserves another season.
Dan Murray: No, we can’t keep sacking coaches, but he needs to learn from this year. When players stop delivering due to attitude, deliver them back to the Q cup. Stop standing by them and backing them. Kevvie backed them, and look where he is.
By now, Mam , Shib , Reno, and Walsh should have clocked up 30 more Q cup games, but no, we keep backing them, and they just let ego get in the way.
