Brisbane Broncos star Ezra Mam has opened up on a range of topics amid a tough season for himself and his club.
The Broncos have gone from NRL Premiers to failing to make the Finals, while Mam has also struggled for form in 2026.
Mam was speaking ahead of his side’s clash with the Dolphins on Saturday, with the five-eighth talking about injuries, getting dropped and his focus for the rest of the campaign.
“With what happened (getting dropped), I took it on the chin and went about my work, and found myself back in the team,” Mam told the Courier Mail.
“Obviously I was always looking to grow. I’m still working to better my game and finish the year strongly with the boys.”
On his shoulder injury, Mam insisted: “No, I won’t need surgery. I guess with the season this long, you’d be lucky to get through unscathed.
“I did get a knock a couple of weeks or months back, and it’s just something you’ve got to put up with as a footballer.
“I’m strong and brave enough not to let that pull me down and just keep going about my game and doing my job for the team.”
Meanwhile, on his focus for the remaining games of the year, which are now dead rubbers, Mam added: “No-one wants to get dropped, whatever the situation may be.
“For us it’s about getting out there, putting our best foot forward, doing our best and giving no excuses to be put in that position.”
