Billy Walters makes huge claim about Broncos vs Wahs

Brisbane Broncos fell to their 11th loss in 12 games on Saturday night, losing 40-32 to the Dolphins at Suncorp Stadium.

The scoreline reflects as eventful game between the Brisbane rivals, with the Broncos blowing a 24-0 lead to suffer only their second ever loss to the Dolphins.

One positive from the game was the performance of Billy Walters. The hooker was involved in everything the Broncos did good on the night.

Having missed most of this season with an ACL injury, it was evident that Walters has already made a difference to Michael Maguire’s side in attack.

But errors and poor defence cost the Broncos again, with last season’s premiers sitting second last, having won only six games all year.

While their season is dead and a wooden spoon looks unlikely, given their eight-point cushion on the Dragons, Brisbane must now start to try build for next year.

Another shocking stat from Maguire’s side this season is that they have only won two home games all year, losing the other eight at Suncorp Stadium.

They return to Suncorp this coming Saturday to host the high-flying Warriors, having already lost to the Wahs at home this season during Magic Round.

Another Kiwi takeover of Brisbane is expected, with Andrew Webster’s side looking to back up their win over Penrith and keep their minor premiership hopes alive.

While the Broncos should have the majority of the crowd, Walters took to the mic on Fox Sports to encourage his team’s fans not to give up on them.

“Stick with us. I know it’s tough, but we are hoping to get a good turnout for the Wahs game,” said Walters.

He continued: “The Warriors have been playing some good footy, but yeah, hopefully we can get a win.”

Walters went on to discuss his own personal feelings after the Dolphins game, with the dummy-half expected to sign a new deal with the Broncos this week.

“It was just good to be back playing for the Broncos,” added Walters, who has not started a game for over a year.

“I love this club and pulling on this jersey. This is a great round too, playing in front of a packed Suncorp Stadium, it does not get much better than that.”
