Former Broncos star released by current club

Hull KR have decided not to renew Tevita Pangai Junior’s contract, which ends after this campaign.

The 30-year-old made his NRL debut with the Broncos 10 years ago and spent five years with Brisbane playing first-grade minutes.

His debut for the club came against Wests Tigers in 2016, starting his NRL career.

In 2021, he departed Suncorp for the Panthers, before playing for the Bulldogs and Dolphins.

He has been playing his footy for Hull KR, although minutes have been hard to come by for the 30-year-old.

The forward was hit with a six-match ban shortly after signing for the club, following an eye-gouging incident.

Pangai Jr was then struck with a five-game ban shortly after returning for disciplinary issues in his side’s defeat against Warrington Wolves.

The club decided not to renew his contract, in a piece of business that has not been successful.

He joined Hull KR from the Wolves, with Rovers having to pay a fee to his former side for his services.

This further shines a light on his disappointing time at the club and, overall, a disappointing time in England.

According to reports, the Australian’s time in the UK is set to come to an end, with a move back to the NRL on the cards.

The 30-year-old will be hoping to have one last chance at the NRL and end his career on a high, following a tough period in England.
