Broncos star linked with shock Sydney move

Xavier Willison could just be about to inflict the latest damage on the Brisbane Broncos.

Willison is off contract at the end of the 2027 NRL season, and could speak to rival clubs come November 1.

The Broncos had hoped to tie down the 24-year-old to a mammoth new contract offer just shy of $1m per season.

Instead, Willison decided to take on Payne Haas’ agent, Ahmad Merhi, to test the market.

Haas, of course, is now leaving Suncorp Stadium for the South Sydney Rabbitohs after playing his final game for the Broncos.

Now, remarkably, the Rabbitohs have also been linked with a move for Willison.

Journalist James Hooper has been the one to float the rumour on the Rugby League Insider podcast.

The Broncos have previously insisted that they will do all they can to keep the dominant prop.

Donaghy told the Courier Mail: “We’d love Xavier to stay and we’ll work through that in the background. Xavier knows the future we see for him at the Broncos.”

But it appears Willison himself has other ideas.
