Knights sent huge transfer warning

Leading agent Gavin Orr has sent the Newcastle Knights a huge transfer warning.

That’s because of rising star Fletcher Hunt, who is in danger of testing the market on November 1.

Hunt is off contract at the end of the 2027 season, meaning he can speak to rival clubs later this year if he hasn’t signed a new deal.

Orr believes that the Knights are playing with fire if they let the 20-year-old engage in discussions with rivals.

“The Knights would be mad to let him go past November 1 [without re-signing him],” Orr told the Newcastle Herald.

“He’s a terrific young kid with a heap of upside, a real competitor and a young player other clubs would love to get their hands on. There will be a lot of interest in him.

“I’ll be surprised if the Knights let it get to that stage.”

Meanwhile, Knights recruitment boss Peter O’Sullivan has shared his view on the situation.

“We’re not going to be able to keep everyone. There will come a time when we’ll lose a player or players we would have liked to have kept.”
